In the conditions of going on modernization of economy efficiency of functioning of a labor market is the considerable component of the specified process. In this article the economic nature of a labor market is considered. The task is to present the theoretical and economic understanding of a labor market. Feature of a labor market in comparison with other markets consists in difference of object of purchase and sale. Requirements to abilities to work change under the influence of modification of economy. Its classification by different signs is considered important in the labor market theory. Components of development of a labor market in modern conditions are employment and unemployment.
