THE INNOVATION THEORY AS THE KEY STREAM OF THE XXTH CENTURY RESEARCH STUDIES

The article describes the process of formation and development of the innovation theory as an independent study. Based on the common evolutionary stages the author proposes classification of the innovation theory. This classification differs in approaches to definition of innovations and their influence on economic domain and social generally. Two approaches considered within innovation theory are classic and alternative studies. The classic theory is analyzed as defining or detailing of innovation’s core and relation of an economic sphere and innovations in their evolutional development. Theories of the classic approach can be divided in two parts that are economic and solidly historical. The alternative theory is presented as an identification of innovative development in the political and social spheres. This approach includes social innovation theories, the theory of innovation cycle and the emerging trend - the ecosystem approach to innovations.
