In the article the authors analyzed the current state of agricultural development in the Republic of Mordovia. The role of agriculture in the economy of the region, the necessity of improving the system of State regulation of agriculture. Considered in some detail the development of the crop and livestock sectors of the agroindustrial complex, analyzed modern tendencies of development of each of the branches, the main groups of agricultural products. The main agricultural producers in the region, analyzed their performance, the profitability of major agricultural products. Authors of the article are basic problems in agricultural development and the system of State regulation of the priority of program-target documents in the development of the agriculture sector in the near future.
