MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES AS ONE OF THE NEWEST INNOVATIVE TREND IN EDUCATION

We examine up-to-date innovative ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and its direct influence on educational processes and education quality. Particularly, we considered free massive open online course (MOOC) as innovation that can make significant changes in educational process, doesn’t changing its fundamental goals. MOOC are discovered from the point of characteristic and difficulties of the implementation and usage. The main features of MOOC-projects were identified. These features are they are open and free for everybody anywhere, the presence of conventional education elements, the extension of communication facilities among all participants of the educational process. Moreover, we considered the main development lines of MOOC, the main difficulties of these courses extension in Russia, such as problems of MOOC certification and accreditation, strong doubts about education quality, and one of the main technological problems in Russia – Internet availability and stability. As the result, several paths of open education development on the basis of online courses were figured out. Among them formation of the basis for online education, creation of MOOC – platforms accordingly education needs and traditions, promotion of the best Russian, traditional education courses to foreign MOOC projects allowing foreign students to be involved in Russian education or the simple way of ignoring that technological innovation.
